THE SPIRAL OF LIFE
“La spirale della vita” (The Spiral of Life), a large installation against violence, by Gianfranco Meggiato in Palermo.
Art as a tool of truth and justice. From 19 July 2018, the day of the 26th anniversary of the massacre of Via D’Amelio in which the judge Paolo Borsellino perished along with the men of his security detail, at Piazza Bologni – in front of Museo Riso and the No Mafia Memorial – it will be possible to see and visit a large installation created as a collateral event of Manifesta 12 by the Venetian artist Gianfranco Meggiato, in the context of the initiatives of I-Design, curated by Daniela Brignone with an introduction by Luca Nannipieri.
The work has a diameter of 10 meters and an emblematic title – The Spiral of Life – as opposed to the spiral of death, to commemorate the victims of organized crime.
The installation is the first of its kind to be made in the center of Palermo. On view from 19 July to 9 September, it will be presented in a press preview on Wednesday 18 July at 15.30, at Museo Riso.
